Our Grounds was a unique project for us because of the story behind it. The owner, Vanessa Vila, has worked for over 12 years serving children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. She noticed the enormous need for employment and training opportunities, and she thought of creating these opportunities for them by creating this coffee shop.

Our Grounds is a non-profit corporation that runs a vocational training site and coffee shop for adults and adolescents with intellectual and cognitive disabilities. Adults have an opportunity to learn and be employed in an educational and inclusive environment. The Merrychef oven is a compact, stylish counter-top appliance designed to easily fit into small spaces and provide an invaluable resource for small businesses looking to add a hot food option to their operation or to improve throughput. This high-speed oven has three heating technologies: Convection, impingement, and microwave, which helps cook foods 10x faster than traditional ovens.

We believed this was an excellent oven for Mrs.Vila because it is designed for a maximum of 100 cooks per day, which matched their current operation. Compared to our other ovens, this one has a quicker return on investment. Based on operators making a 10% margin on food, it will take about three months to get your money back. Moreover, with its easy to use touchscreen icons, no special training is necessary. It is as easy as matching the picture of the food on the screen and inserting it in the oven to cook.
